Program objectives

  • Learn dental sciences and chair-side skills.
  • Acquire the skills and knowledge needed to pass the California Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) exam. 
  • Become a member of a dental health team, applying professional and ethical principles.
  • Prevent disease transmission by utilizing universal precautions in the work environment.

Program requirements for graduation

Classroom & Externship:

  • Attendance of 95%.
  • Complete 288 externship hours.
  • Complete all assignments.
  • Maintain at least an 80% on skills, assignments, assessments, and participation.
  • Take and pass the California Registered Dental Assistant Exam.

Program Information

High School Diploma or GED, health insurance, updated inoculations, and CPR/BLS training required before enrolling.

steps to enroll


  • Attend WIOA info session. See AJCC Calendar.
  • Set up doctor appointment to complete Health Verification form and get inoculations if needed. 
  • Return all paperwork to Room C5.
  • Attend Orientation to Health Careers (no charge).
  • Enroll in the program after all admission requirements are completed.
  • Complete paperwork (pick up and return to room C5).
  • Enroll in the program after all admission requirements are completed.
    1. If paying in full, enroll with secretary in Room C5 and sign enrollment agreement.
    2. If payment plan is desired, call 925-685-7340, ext. 6730, to make appointment to enroll, set up plan, make first payment, and sign enrollment agreement.
