Adult Basic Education (ABE) and Test Prep Classes

Thinking about coming back to school, but need to brush up on basic skills? We provide classes to help you improve your basic reading and math skills, prepare for the Pearson Vue GED Test, HISET, TASC, CTEC, or CAHSEE Exams at the Mt. Diablo Adult Education Center. Improve your opportunity to obtain jobs and apprenticeships, achieve your personal goals or be a lifelong learner! 

Adults with Disabilities

The Adults with Disabilities department is composed of three unique programs serving the needs of adults with disabilities.

The Life Skills Program serves adults with developmental disabilities providing training in independent living skills, pre-vocational skills, social/relationship skills, computer skills and functional academics. This program is supported by the Regional Center of the East Bay.

The On Track Program addresses the needs of adults who have suffered an acquired brain injury. Unlike any other program in the Bay Area, we provide re-cognitive training, memory skills development, independent living skills and career exploration at an affordable price.

The Transition Options Program (TOPS) is a one of a kind program providing education and support to adults with Asperger’s, High Functioning Autism and other related disorders. Students receive education and support in successfully navigating life’s on-going transitions including, higher education, independent living, employment and the establishment of fulfilling adult social relationships. 

Career Technical Education Center

Prepare for a career in under a year! Our short-term courses are designed to prepare students for today’s job market. Our Mission CTEC fully prepares adults to be successfully employed in demand occupations. Our Vision CTEC is committed to providing high quality education and training in a supportive setting in partnership with business and industry enabling students to be fully prepared to succeed in their chosen occupations. CTEC is also committed to collaborating with other agencies and organizations in creating and sustaining an efficient workforce and economic development system. 

English as a Second Language

The ESL department teaches essential English skills for successful learning and living and provides a welcoming, safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment. All ESL teachers are credentialed instructors.

  • Students learn English and improve communication skills in order to achieve personal, educational, and career goals
  • Students study in a welcoming, supportive and engaging learning environment 

High School Diploma and Equivalency Program

Mt. Diablo Adult Education is dedicated to providing adults with the academic skills and opportunity to earn a high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate. Adults who wish to improve academic skills in order to pass various career tests or meet personal goals are also encouraged to attend.

Our classes are designed to provide adult learners with a focused, supportive, and challenging education that enables them to meet their personal and professional goals.

Mt. Diablo Adult Education High School Diploma and Equivalency Program is committed to providing opportunities for our diverse learners to build academic and life skills needed to be productive citizens who can meet the demands of an ever-changing society and workplace.

Students attending this program may be eligible to earn a High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Certificate or simply learn academic skills needed for various career technical programs.  

Lifelong Education-Pleasant Hill Education Center (PHEC)

We invite you to join us for Lifelong Learning opportunities that will expand your knowledge and skills and enrich your personal life experience. Classes are offered for all skill levels throughout the year at Pleasant Hill Education Center.  

Parent Education and Preschools

The Parent Education Program provides opportunities to learn about, and promote, the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children at varying stages of life. Different types of classes are offered that include opportunities for students to attend and learn with their children and to learn about building more dynamic family relationships.
