Office Apps



Many offices use Microsoft applications. This course will cover beginning and intermediate skills for Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, and Windows 10. 

The course will prepare you to work in a variety of office settings.

Program Objectives

  • Update computer application skills.
  • Learn intermediate level skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, and Windows 10.
  • Prepare to pass Microsoft Certification Exams.

Program Requirements for graduation

Classroom & Externship:

  • Attendance of 95%
  • Complete four lab hours each week on-campus
  • Complete all assignments
  • Maintain at least an 80% on skills, assignments, assessments, and participation
  • Recommended typing speed of 25 wpm


  • Visual and hearing acuity
  • Ability to work at a desk for long periods of time


  • Communicate effectively, including active listening
  • Function as an effective team member
  • Prioritize and sequence
  • Utilize critical thinking
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism and integrity
  • Ability to handle stress of meeting deadlines

Program information

HS Diploma, GED or equivalent and health insurance are required.

8:30am-Noon T / TH   
Min. required 4 lab hours per week

Tuition: $937.00

Textbooks are available for use in class. They may be purchased separately if desired.

Includes fee to take the Microsoft Certification Exams.

Steps to Enroll

  • Register and complete CTEC Orientation and CTEC Assessment (2 separate, free classes). 
  • Complete Keyboarding Speed Test (available for free in the Media Center). 
  • Complete paperwork (pick up and return to room C5).
  • Enroll in the program after all admission requirements are completed.
    1. If paying in full, enroll with secretary in Room C5 and sign enrollment agreement.
    2. If payment plan is desired, call 925-685-7340, ext. 6730, to make appointment to enroll, set up plan, make first payment, and sign enrollment agreement.
