Announcing the Opening of America’s Job Center of California (AJCC) Access Point at Mt. Diablo Adult Education! Need help getting a job? Improving your skills to get a job?

Beginning October 1, Mt. Diablo Adult Education began offering job readiness and career search resources on campus, through a unique partnership with Contra Costa County and nine local organizations. Following are some of the free services that are now available to clients and students on the Loma Vista campus:

  • Résumé writing and career workshops
  • Access to job postings and hiring events
  • Computers, printers, copier and scanner available for job search
  • Access to CalJOBS, the state’s best online resource for job seekers
  • Free career assessments and typing tests with speed and accuracy certification
  • Training and education information
  • Career Coach on campus 2 days a week

Description of Mt. Diablo Adult Education AJCC Access Point Career Center Assessments and Workshops January 2020 

Resume Review – 1/7 Bring in your current resume and have it professionally reviewed. If you are applying for a position, bring the job posting so key words can be matched and used in your resume. 

Self-Directed Job Search – 1/8, 1/15 Conduct an Internet job search, apply for positions online, print job postings, etc. 

Keyboarding (Typing) Practice – 1/9, 1/16, 1/30  Use Typing. Com – a free online keyboarding website – to practice and improve your keyboarding skills. Includes free lessons, games, and practice tests. 

Typing Certification Test –1/10, 1/17, 1/24, 1/31 Take a keyboarding assessment (typing test) and earn a certificate for employment. A warm-up period will be provided followed by two timed typing tests. 

CASAS Assessment* - 1/13, 1/27  Take the CASAS reading and math assessments that are required as a prerequisite for enrollment in CTEC programs and may also be a requirement for WIOA. 

Identify Your Strengths – 1/14  Take a variety of career assessments to find out how your personality traits, interests, and learning preferences match up to careers. 

LinkedIn – 1/21 Create a profile and learn how to make connections using LinkedIn, the leading professional online network. 

WIOA Information Session* – 1/22  Find out about the benefits and resources available through the WIOA program. Learn how this program can help you with your job search, training opportunities, and financial assistance! 

Resumes/CalJOBS* – 1/23  Learn the elements and structure of an effective, professionally written resume, and how to post it on CalJOBS. Receive an overview of, the state’s best online resource for job seekers. Discover all of the perks and uses of having a CalJOBS account. 

Interview Skills – 1/28  Be able to respond to the most commonly asked interview questions. Receive tips for a successful interview experience. 

My Next Move Interest Profiler – 1/29  Take the My Next Move interest assessment to match your interests to potential careers. Research matching occupations and training requirements on the Occupational Information Network (O’Net) online. 

*NOTE: WIOA Information Session and Resumes/CalJOBS workshop are required as part of the WIOA enrollment process. CASAS assessments may also be required. (Check with your Career Coach.)
